Earlier Velonie Estate comprised of only two divisions (Upper and Lower Divisions). In the year 1964/66 East Division was planted and Amalgamated with Velonie. There was a seperate estate called 'Selaliparai' where considerable hectarage of tea was submerged under water due to construction of the Sholayar Dam and a part of Selaliparai estate No. 1 division comprising of 62.11 Ha. was amalgamated with Velonie in December 1967. Even to this date, when the water levels in the Sholayar Dam recedes, the remains of the old factory, labour line colonies, roads etc. can be seen.
